I am a subscriber to the quarterly Walmart Beauty Boxes, and that unboxing series is very popular here on the blog. Walmart has released some special edition boxes, and I am running to my local store to grab them! The special collection contains six boxes, called Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes. Each box has a distinct theme, and the products inside are either makeup or haircare. The purpose of these boxes are to help you discover some popular products that just may become your new favorites. The boxes sell for $9.88 a piece and are available online and in stores. I am doing an unboxing with reviews, swatches, and first impressions of all of the boxes. If you are as excited about these boxes as I am, just keep reading.

Found Coconut Sheet Mask

The first product in this Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes review is a repeat mask that appears the in Award-Worthy beauty box. This sheet mask claims to brighten your skin tone, hydrate, soften, and add radiance. According to the directions on the back of the packet you are to apply it after washing your face and leave it on for 10-20 minutes. When you remove the mask you are to massage the excess serum into the skin instead of washing it away. I like to use this mask as a before bed treatment.

Milani Make it Dewy Setting Spray

Make it Dewy is a makeup setting spray that is supposed to leave your makeup with a dewy and radiant finish for 16 hours of wear. I have no real rhyme or reason as to how I apply setting spray, I just make sure that my whole face feels moist. The mister is awful on this spray. It is hard to describe, but it feels like the product sprays at an angle which results in uneven application and too much product coming your way. I end up with wet spots that take ages to dry. This is not a spray that I will repurchase for the sprayer alone.

Hard Candy Just Glow Rose Gold Highlighter

Third in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes is a highlighter. If you look closely in the pan of this rose gold highlighter you will see three strips of color. For the swatch I am swirling my finger in the products and I find the results to be lackluster in terms of the impact of the shine. I will not totally discredit it until I apply it to my face with a brush.

Covergirl Vitalist Healthy Glow Highlighter

My initial impression about this potted cream highlighter is that the product will be dry and hard to swatch. It ends up being surprisingly creamy. The golden brown sheen is beautiful, but probably too dark to wear on the high points of my cheeks for my complexion. I think it might be better for use on the eye. I am curious if this comes in more shades to suit a wider variety of skin tones.

wet n wild megaglo Highlighting Powder in Precious Petals

Next in my Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes review, you all already know that I am a huge fan of the megaglo highlighting powders, and Precious Petals is one of my favorite shades. I already have this one in my collection. I like that the golden hue is on the lighter side, which is super flattering on my face. These highlighters pack quite the punch, giving high end a run for their money and securing the spot of number one highlighter at the drugstore in my mind.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink in Dreamer

I already have a few shades of Superstay Matte Ink in my collection, and Dreamer is luckily not a repeat. The matte formula of this liquid lipstick is different from any other that I have tried. It does dry completely down with little to no transfer and excellent staying powder. The formula itself is matte, but not in a chalky or dry way. It feels almost flexible or elastic on the lips, and has a slight stickiness or tackiness that is easy to ignore. The pigmentation is intense in one application layer.

Hard Candy Plumping Lip Gloss in Sugar Sugar

I would imagine by the name of this lip gloss that it provides that uncomfortable burning sensation for your lips that is supposed to plump them. Besides that, I hate the feeling and poor staying power of lip gloss. The baby pink shade of Sugar Sugar included in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes is pretty in the tube, but the pigmentation of the swatch is faint. If anything the packaging is rather glam, but I can pass on this one.

Milani Amore Matte Lip Creme in Adorable

As big of a fan of nude lip colors and matte liquid lipsticks as I am, I am definitely in love with the shade Adorable. The creamy pigmentation is spot on and it dries fully matte in a matter of minutes. I am disappointed by how quickly this product begins to feel super dry and crusty on the lips, and it crumbles in areas. I have other matte liquid lipsticks in my collection that prefer over this one. With this being said I will continue to use up Adorable, but I will not be purchasing other shades from this line.

Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Creme in Barely Blush

I feel biased in a way about this product because I have seen a negative review video about it. The complaint is mainly toward the staying power and pigmentation. I am not sure if it “plumps” by causing discomfort to the lips, or if the glossy sheen provides a plumping illusion. I will say that this product does not dry down at all and is very glossy, without being a full-on lip gloss. The pigment is ok, a tad bit sheerer than anticipated. Since it does not set I figure it will transfer onto everything besides my mouth and not last long.

Loreal Infallible Matte Gloss in Statement Nude

I am intrigued by how something can be a matte and a gloss at the same time in this Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes review. As an owner of metallic liquid lipsticks I do understand how that works beautifully, as the product itself dries down matte with metallic flecks. This product on the other hand has nothing matte to it at all. It swatches and feels like a highly pigmented lip gloss. While I love the shade, I have no idea what Loreal is trying to accomplish. This definitely seems like a lip product that is going to get messy in a hurry.

e.l.f. Lip Exfoliator

The e.l.f. lip exfoliator is a beauty staple and tried-and-true product for me. I use this exact one in Brown Sugar to exfoliate my lips nightly before bed by rubbing the lipstick-like bullet on my lips in circular motions for about 30 seconds, then I wipe away the residue with a clean tissue. This product is best followed up with a lip balm.

Time for Eyes

I think it is so awesome that a drugstore box finally hit it right with the mix of eye products! I feel that brows and false lashes always get forgotten, but this looks like a promising mix of glam products.

e.l.f. Essentials Brow Wax Pencil in Clear

I already have this brow pencil in the colored, brown version, and it works perfectly fine. I appreciate a clear wax in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes because it adds no tint, it only holds shape. That is great for days when you want to go easy on the makeup and maybe just add some invisible hold, or if you are already filling in your brows with a tinted product.

My experience with other Maybelline pencil eyeliners has been great because they are always super creamy and pigmented. The Lasting Drama line is no exception. Sleek Onyx is pure black and the swatch glides effortlessly over my skin without dragging or skipping. I bet it will also be easy to smudge out the line for smokey looks all the way to lighter makeup days.

Kiss Lash Couture Lashes in Little Black Dress

I really do enjoy Kiss lashes, including the Lash Couture line. The Little Black Dress set has just the right amount of drama, falling between subtle and over-the-top glam. I like them and I think that they are a safe option for anyone, no matter how experienced you are with false lashes.

Almay Shadow Squad in Cause a Stir

I have not really gotten into the eyeshadow trend of having a palette with one color that comes in multiple finishes. I tend to use three, four, or more colors on my eye for any given look. Using a palette such as this one all on its own is going to look monochromatic on the eye without much transition or variety. Maybe you are supposed to supplement it with other palettes? Either way, Cause a Stir from the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes does not blow me away with the swatches. I will give it a go on the eye before I decide to pass this quad on.

I will be honest and say that when I see palettes like this in the drugstore I tend to run away because they are notorious for looking great but performing badly. Besides that, there are so many nude palettes on the market, and I already have the Naked palettes. I am pleasantly surprised by the swatches. The pigmentation is good for the drugstore. You definitely get some base/highlight shades, crease/transition shades, and outer-v shades. The swatches are on the powdery side, but I have swatched eyeshadows that are much worse. My only suggestion to Covergirl would be to expand the shade range in this palette as each group of three eyeshadows are too similar, leading to not a lot of variation on the eyelid as you try to create a look.

Loreal Voluminous Lash Paradise

I have already used up a tube of Lash Paradise, and I am excited to receive another in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes! It is definitely one of my favorite mascaras, and one that I can trust in my daily routine for glam everyday. This mascara is supposed to be a dupe for Too Faced’s famous Better Than Sex mascara, and they both feature hourglass-shaped wands. The Lash Paradise formula is ready to go on first application, unlike others that take a week or two of use to hit their prime. A downfall of this mascara is that it is really hard to wash off, and requires an eye makeup remover. I will go through the hassle to rock this mascara any day.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Deep Conditioning Protein Pack

The protein pack is essentially a deep conditioning treatment that can also be used as an overnight mask by wearing a cap. It claims to repair weak, fragile, damaged hair while adding moisture, shine, and deep hydration. The directions state to use it after shampoo, focusing on your ends. Leave it on for 10-20 minutes, then rinse.

Hask Orchid and White Truffle Moisture Rich Deep Conditioner

I think we are seeing a trend with conditioning packs and the claims that they make. This conditioner by Hask says that it will hydrate and shine dry, damaged hair. You are to apply it to clean, wet hair, focusing on damaged areas. Leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse. It can be used one to two times per week.

Garnier Whole Blends Honey Treasures Repairing Mask

This mask by Garnier in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes focuses on reconstructing, mending damage and brittleness, and strengthening strands. You are to apply it generously and leave it on for three minutes.

Garnier Fructis Nourishing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask

Continuing this Walmart Beauty Favorites boxes review is another hair mask by Garnier. It should provide soft, smooth, and manageable hair. It says that it can be used three ways:

As a mask that is applied after shampoo, leave on for one minute then rinse
As a conditioner
As a leave-in conditioner on damp hair

I really do not see the difference between uses one and two, based upon the directions because I always let my conditioner sit anyways.

Garnier Fructis Nourishing Treat 1 Minute Hair Mask

Renpure Advanced Tea Tree and Lemon Sage Shampoo and Conditioner

First things first, this shampoo and conditioner pair smells exactly like the name- lemon, sage, and tea tree. It is a medicinal scent, but one that I enjoy because it is different from today’s highly perfumed hair products. The directions are standard to other shampoos and conditioners. The duo is supposed to stimulate natural nutrient flow to the hair for healthier, shinier, softer hair. I am using these now and the only downfall is that the product builds up in my hair. With extended use my hair starts to look weighed down and oily as if I am not washing it. I have to break the cycle by using a different shampoo and conditioner to keep my hair fresh.

Once again this pair smells like it’s name, which is lovely. This shampoo and conditioner set from the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes claims to calm frizzy hair, smooth, and nourish for healthier hair. The directions are standard on these as well.

Loreal Elvive Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm

This conditioning treatment by Loreal fights weak, dry, dull, rough hair, and split ends. What a mouthful! The directions say to use it after shampoo. Leave it on for three to five minutes and rinse.

Nexxus Keraphix Treatment Masque Proteinfusion

The Keraphix treatment mask from the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes sounds perfect for my life for use after bleach. It claims to heal severely damaged hair, including roughness and brittleness, for hair that is smooth and healthy looking. The directions state to press the treatment into the hair from mid-length to ends, then comb through. Leave it on for three to five minutes and rinse.

Herbal Essences Bio Renew Foam Conditioner in Blue Ginger

This foam conditioner will be the second one that I have tried. I like the concept, but I hope that I like Herbal Essences version better than Pantene’s. The directions are what I expect- shake well and apply a palm-sized amount to your hair. Allow the foam to absorb, then rinse.

OGX Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo

I am sure that you all know how a dry shampoo is supposed to perform. Nonetheless, I will be going through the list of claims and directions for each inside of the box. The OGX dry shampoo says that it will absorb oil, restore, and revive. Be sure to shake the can well and hold it eight to 12 inches away from the head while spraying. Massage the spray through the roots and then brush through the hair so that it can effectively absorb oil.

Hask Charcoal Purifying Dry Shampoo

Charcoal does not seem like a product that you would spray on your hair, but that will not stop me from trying it! This Charcoal Purifying Dry Shampoo is infused with charcoal powder. Shake the can well and hold it six to 10 inches away from your hair while spraying. Follow-up by massaging the spray into your roots.

Batiste Original Dry Shampoo

Batiste is probably the name brand that comes to mind when people think of dry shampoo. Here in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes we have the original formula and scent. It really has the same directions as the other dry shampoos so far.

got2b Fresh It Up Dry Shampoo

Finally we have a dry shampoo from the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes that says a few different things. got2b’s version says that there will be no white residue and that the fragrance will last throughout the day. It does have the same application steps as the others, including holding the can eight to 10 inches away from your head.

Hask Coconut Milk and Organic Honey Curl Care Deep Conditioner

Here is yet another deep conditioner from Hask, but this time it is for curly hair. It claims to quench and control frizz while enhancing curls. Apply the deep conditioner to wet hair and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse. It can be used one to two times per week.

ORS Curls Unleashed Shea Butter and Mango Leave-in Conditioner

Curls Unleashed is a leave-in conditioner that will protect, moisturize, soften, and detangle the hair. Apply it to damp hair and do not rinse.

John Frieda Frizz Ease Touch-up Creme

I am a fan of anti-frizz creams, and I am ready to put John Frieda’s to the test from the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes. Frizz Ease says that it will calm and smooth frizz-prone hair by sealing in moisture and eliminating flyaways. You are to rub a small amount into dry hair, concentrating on the ends. The thick white cream does take some working into the hair. At first it feels like you are just slathering cream onto your hair with no results. Trust me, just keep working at it and it will absorb into your hair. It smells like a perfumed hair product.

Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Leave-in Conditioner

We get quite a generous amount of leave-in conditioner in this bottle! This one will moisturize, soften, detangle, and calm frizz for basically any type of hair. It does say that it is for chemically processed, dyed, bleached, and heat styled hair. It also works to promote growth and strength. Apply the leave-in conditioner to clean, towel-dried hair by working a fair amount from roots to ends. Comb it through to distribute evenly and do not rinse. You can really smell the shea butter in this thick, creamy white product.

Maui Moisture Shea Butter Shampoo and Conditioner

I love the purple bottle and gold lids on this shampoo and conditioner pair in the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes. The directions are pretty standard, including leaving the conditioner in for three to five minutes before rinsing. The duo claims to soften, quench, and repair your hair. It smells naturally perfumed with hints of coconut and aloe.

Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie

I had a packet sample of Curl Enhancing Smoothie in a Walmart Beauty Box, and I ended up throwing it away unfinished. This product leaves a horrible texture in my hair and makes it a tangled mess. I think part of the reason is that I applied too much because you do not have a lot of control with a packet. I will give it another go with this tube sample because it is easier to squeeze and control. Ultimately, I think it is not really for my type of hair, which causes it to feel disgusting. This product is supposed to define curls, reduce frizz, and smooth. It says to apply sparingly to damp hair and do not rinse it out. The thick, white cream smells like coconut oil.

Tresemme Tres Mousse

The last item in my Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes review is a mousse. I am not someone that uses mousse, nor am I sure what you should use it for. The directions on the can are very simple, making me think that I can use it as an anti-frizz cream on damp hair. The directions say to apply the mousse to damp hair with your hands or a brush, then brush it through.

We have finally gone through all of the Walmart Beauty Favorites Boxes together! I have plenty of final thoughts. For the hair care, the packet products all contain a generous amount of product and have a lot of weight to them. I also have a lot of awesome products to test out and I hope that I discover some new favorites. I will definitely be working on the hair products for the rest of the year. The makeup boxes include some amazing products that I fully stand behind, and, of course I love to try new products too. I will say that for each box type, both for makeup and hair care, that the themes are spot on with today’s trends and concerns. Are you going to purchase any of these products?
