Let me just say that it was quite the experience to purchase the wet n wild Limited Edition Midnight Mermaid box! It has been getting harder to grab these boxes as they become more popular. I was thinking that I would not be able to buy it at all. Thankfully I was able to get it so that I could review, swatch, and provide my first impressions on all of the products. This collection is mermaid themed, and every product has some sort of metallic finish. I know that you all must be just as excited as I am to get into these products, so let's start.
Also, if you would be interested in a post all about how to handle a wet n wild release so that you too can get the boxes before they are sold out, let me know in the comments.

wet n wild megaliner Metallic Liquid Eyeliners
I have decided to start off my review of the wet n wild limited edition Midnight Mermaid box with the eyeliners. I have used their regular black megaliner liquid eyeliner in the past. These appear to be the same size bottles and brush applicator. The black always worked fine for me as a basic liquid eyeliner. These are highly metallic, with an almost opaque pigmentation and somewhat thick formula. With this being said, I think that you will have to work with them more to get your desired look, but you can get there. You just need to be willing to take the time, but I am sure you will get lovely results. These colors are pretty much unwearable for me because I do not own a lot of blue or green. I tend to use black or brown eyeliners. Although I am sure that I can incorporate them into a makeup look somehow and not look crazy.

wet n wild coloricon Metallic Liquid Eyeshadows
These metallic liquid eyeshadows are a new item for wet n wild, as well as a new item for my collection. You can probably already guess that I have a fear of creasing with these, being that they are liquid. I can say that the swatches dried down completely within minutes. They felt thick and actually felt like dried paint, like when you get your face painted at a carnival. That gives me high hopes that they will not crease. I found that swatching worked best when I used the applicator in a spreading motion, rather than in a tapping motion. The applicator is a long, flat doefoot, which I think will work fine for eyelid application, which is how I plan on wearing these. I think these will also look pretty when carefully applied around the lower lash line. I noted that the swatches of these were not fully opaque, but I think the formula is buildable so that you can achieve your desired level of shine.

wet n wild megalast Liquid Catsuit Metallic Matte Lipsticks
I am a huge fan of the regular Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipsticks because of their serious color payoff and how they wear off gracefully throughout the day. You may be wondering how a lipstick can be metallic and matte at the same time. That sounds like an oxy-moron! However, these do live up to their claims. The formula itself dries completely matte in minutes, but it has metallic flecks in it that provide that metallic sheen over the matte color. These are, of course, highly pigmented and smooth. This is the first time that I have owned any wild, unwearable lip colors. I really love the red and the copper a lot, and I cannot wait to wear them. As for the blue and green, they are beautiful, but I do not know if I can pull them off. These have a curved doefoot applicator, just like the other Liquid Catsuits.

wet n wild megaglo Highlighting Bar in Midnight Moon
The final item in the wet n wild limited edition Midnight Mermaid box is probably the one you have been waiting for- the highlighting bar! I really like the mermaid design in the powder. The swatch of this highlight was so gorgeous that I kept staring at it! This is a pearly white highlight, packed with gold shimmer that actually gives it a golden shift. I have seen people with a darker complexion than myself wearing this highlighter, and the shift has given them a grayish color on the edges of their cheeks. I could not see the gray on my hand as I turned the swatch in the light, but I can see how it might look gray on some people. Let's hope that it does not show that gray cast on my face. I liked the soft formula, reminiscent of the megaglo highlighting powders.

To sum up my feelings about the wet n wild limited edition Midnight Mermaid collection, I think they should get an A+ for beauty. I can tell that so much thought was put into not just the awesome packaging, but into the product colors and finishes. Everything is to die for in that regard, and I think they got the color palette of the mermaid theme correct. With all of this being said, there are plenty of unnatural or unwearable colors in this collection. This is definitely a collector's collection. Also, I would consider getting some of these products if you would find them helpful in your Halloween look this year. All in all I will definitely use all of the products that I can from this collection. My favorites are the highlighting bar, the copper and red liquid lipsticks, and the blue liquid eyeshadow. What are your favorites? Will you be buying any of these products? Tell me in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
Really appreacitae this detailed post! Just picked up trident's shimmer liner as I love the wnw liners. Might also pick up sea dreams. Everything else is too out there for me lol
