Play! by Sephora July 2016 Review – Effortless Summer

I have been patiently waiting for this box to arrive ever since Sephora informed me that I was no longer on the waitlist! As soon as I found out that Play! by Sephora was a thing, I was all for it. I subscribed to this box because not only is the price amazing for what you get, but I get to play with high-end products that I can't afford. Just opening this first box was such a thrill because I now have brands I could only dream of owning. I am slowly working on some high-end stuff, however, but all I have is Urban Decay, three Estee Lauder lipsticks, and a MAC product. I really can't wait to try out all of these products. I hope you will join me as I unbox this subscription box and share in my pure joy. The good news is that we get to do this every month! Now, onto the unboxing.

OUAI Haircare Wave Spray

I'm pumped to try this product because I really love wave sprays/texturizers. I have some others, but they always tangle my hair a lot. I not only hope that this one provides an abundance of waves, but that it will not give me major knots. I'm really impressed by the size of the bottle. The liquid is a golden color and it smells like some sort of fine perfume that you would find perhaps in your grandma's collection, like an Estee Lauder or something. I mean this in a good way.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer Pore Minimizing

Woohoo, I found my first day back to school primer! I have large pores around my nose, so this primer is perfect for me. I also love that it's oil-free, which I appreciate because I have oily areas on my face. The product itself is not purple, but more of a golden off-white color.

Blotterazzi by beautyblender

This is a product that I've always been curious about. I have to admit that I'm afraid it will wipe my makeup away. I think it will definitely take some experimentation with how much pressure to apply while blotting and the hand motions used. I'm concerned about blotting my oily nose area, because it gets so oily that I can wipe my foundation away with my finger in just a swipe. I do plan on giving this product a go, and am so overjoyed to get a beautyblender product. It even came with liquid beautycleaner! What a bonus! Do you have any suggestions for how often I should clean this thing? Let me know in the comments.

First Aid Beauty Skin Rescue Deep Cleanser

This is just what the doctor ordered for my troubled skin this summer. I have been having plenty of acne issues, and I'm confident that this product will help me out. It claims that it removes oils, purifies, and clears pores when used twice a day. The product itself is a translucent red color, almost gel-like, with a bit of a medicinal smell with hints of cologne. I note that the product is sort of runny, as it tried to come out when I removed the cap. I plan on using this product immediately.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer in Medium/Deep

Ahhh, this product smells amazing! I adore this shade, and the formula is so smooth. Definitely my first day back to school bronzer for contouring. Also, it's matte, which I heart so much. I was disappointed by the pigmentation in the swatch, but I think a brush will pick up the product better than my finger.

Nest Fragrances Citrine

The sample packaging says that this perfume smells like lotus flower, freesia, sparkling citrus, and hints of precious wood. I can definitely smell the citrus. My overall impression is that it's pretty and I would definitely use it.

I have to say that I'm liking what I see with this first box. I cannot wait to see what is in the next box. Do you like unboxing posts? Which of these products are you most eager to try? Would you like a followup impression/review post about these products? We should chat in the comments. If you would like to subscribe to this box, you can do so at sephora.com/play. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
