e.l.f. Haul 14: Reviews & Swatches

All products are independently reviewed and tested. Clicking on any links may result in The Aesthetic Edge earning a commission. Read our disclosure here.

As you may be aware, I am all about an e.l.f. online sale. It can be a burden hunting down sale products that are not already in my collection, but I truly hit the jackpot this time around. This e.l.f. haul 14 is by far the biggest out of all of the hauls in this series, and it features a variety of products. I am pumped to be reviewing skincare, tools, and accessories, in addition to swatching and admiring makeup. There is even new to me makeup in this haul, including me expanding my collection by getting more shades of items that I already love. If these topics are of interest to you, then you are in for a treat.

Eyes

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Smooth Matte Eyeshadow

The first products in my e.l.f. haul 14 are two Beautifully Bare Smooth Matte Eyeshadows that complete my collection. I like that each have intense pigmentation, while still featuring gentle shades that are easy to work with. They do dry down fully matte and I do not carry concerns that they will move around on the eyelid. I think that they will give you enough time to work with them before they set. I appreciate the mini, doefoot applicator.

e.l.f. Matte to Metal Eye Primer Transformer in Shimmering Silver

This is my second Matte to Metal Eye Primer. The purpose of these are to transform any matte eyeshadow into a metallic. In the swatch the primer does set down completely, so I hope that it increases the longevity of my eyeshadow. I am not sure how the silver tint will affect the eyeshadow on top of it, possibly changing the color. Of course, you can always use these as eyeshadows by themselves.

e.l.f. Luxe Lash Kit in Mod Glamour

I have chosen this lash kit for my e.l.f. haul 14 because I like lashes that have a thin, clear band. I also think that Mod Glamour is right in between subtle and glam, making them a safe choice. This lash kit comes with a lash applicator.

e.l.f. Velvet Touch Eyeshadow Palette in Island Breeze

I have seen negative reviews for this product, from pigmentation to staying power. I am deciding to try this palette due to the low price tag. The eyeshadows themselves feel like cream when you dip your finger in. I am doubtful that they will work well with a brush. I think your best bet with these is to use a good eyelid primer and apply them with your finger. They should work well for all-over the eyelid application, or to add a pop of color to your existing eyelid shade. I am worried that these will crease up and move around on the eyelid during the day, as well as fade. They do swatch super creamy, with good pigment and a foiled shine. The colors themselves are gorgeous.

e.l.f. Eyeliner & Shadow Stick in Brown/Basic

The Eyeliner & Shadow sticks feature a smooth, shimmery stick eyeshadow on one end, and a gentle, non-tugging eyeliner on the other. I like the mild-toned duo of Brown/Basic in my e.l.f. haul 14, perfect for day looks.

Lips

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick

The Beautifully Bare Satin Lipstick line is not intended to be full-glam lipsticks. These lipsticks instead provide a natural wash of color with a satin finish. I think the pigmentation and formula holds well to e.l.f.’s intentions, and I love the natural shades. The formula smells like delicious cupcakes. Touch of Nude may just be my favorite.

e.l.f. Lip & Cheek Duo Stix

The purpose of the Lip & Cheek Duo Stix, as part of my e.l.f haul 14, is that they can be used as lipliner/lipcolor, and as blush. One side of the stick is supposed to be a shimmer shade, while the other a matte. I do not find the shimmers to be that noticeable, but the formula is smooth. I appreciate the concept, but I doubt that I will be using them as blush.

e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Radiant Gel Lip Tint

The Aqua Beauty Radiant Gel Lip Tints are supposed to act as a lip stain by providing a natural wash of color. They swatch rather sheer as I expected, but I think that they will work as a tint or stain on the lips. If you are looking for a more intense lip than what these offer, try pairing them up with a lipstick or other lip color.

e.l.f. Metal Matte Liquid Lipstick

I have tried other matte metallic liquid lipsticks, but not any from e.l.f. These swatches do behave like other brands. They dry down to be fully matte in a few minutes, but still have that metallic edge. Precious Metals is a bit streaky, which is an issue I have with other lighter-toned liquid lipsticks. I really love the shade of Cool Rust. They feature a rounded, triangular doe-foot applicator with the center cut out. Based upon my experience, that shape makes it easy to apply the color where you want it.

e.l.f. Gotta Glow Lip Tint in Perfect Berry

The Gotta Glow Lip Tint that I am featuring in my e.l.f. haul 14 is a sheer lipstick that reacts with your body’s pH to provide a custom wash of color for the lips. Again, this line is not intentioned to be full-glam lipstick. I like these lipsticks for more natural makeup days.

e.l.f. Lip Liner & Blending Brush in Hot Pink

I pretty much have every other shade of the e.l.f. lip liners, so I already know that I like the size of the tip, and the formula does not tug. They work perfectly fine for everyday use. I never use the blending brush on the other side, but it can come in handy when you want to use your lipliner as lip color.

Face

e.l.f. Aqua Beauty Aqua-Infused Blush & Bronzer

The Aqua-Infused blush and bronzers are very confusing products to me. When you swatch them they really feel like they are a cream and powder product at the same time. I will definitely apply them with stippling brushes. First, I will give them a go over powder to see if they look bad or not, as you should not use cream over powder. Then I will then try them as cream products and set them with powder. I will say that the formula is luxuriously creamy and is highly pigmented. The swatches look so diffused and soft around the edges in a good way.

e.l.f. Blush

Here in my e.l.f. haul 14 I have more of their basic blushes. I like each one that is in my collection and I have no complaints about them. They are great for the price. Glow is a bit more gentler than Shy, which packs more of a punch. You cannot go wrong with these staple blushes.

e.l.f. Tone Correcting Powder in Cool

All of e.l.f.’s tone correcting powders throw me for a loop. I am never sure exactly how to use them. I figure that you are supposed to swirl your brush in all of the shades and then apply the powder to your entire face. Are you supposed to set your foundation with it? I often do not need further color correction after foundation. This powder when mixed has a white look, but the swatch itself really does not yield any pigment. How do you use tone correcting powders? Let me know in the comments.

e.l.f. Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems

e.l.f.’s Baked Highlighter collection is beautiful. I am surprised that I have some pigment in my swatch without scraping off the top layer. Blush Gems in my e.l.f. haul 14 truly is a blush shade, without being fully rose gold. I think that you could even use it as a blush topper and the hue would blend in naturally with your blush.

e.l.f. Tinted Moisturizer in Porcelain

Tinted moisturizer is a new concept for me. My plan for it is to use it for no-makeup makeup looks. I think that a blending sponge will soak up too much of this product, as moisturizer is thinner than cream foundation. I am a bit concerned that the undertone is too yellow for me, but at the same time you should never go by hand swatches. Fingers crossed that it sets nicely on the face! I am providing a semi-blended swatch below.

e.l.f. Mouth Off Lipstick Remover Pads

These lipstick remover pads remind me of nail polish remover pads. This is the same concept, just with makeup remover for your lips.

e.l.f. Makeup Remover Exfoliating Cleansing Cloths

I have never heard of exfoliating makeup remover cloths. The 10-pack in this e.l.f. haul 14 says that the wipes have exfoliating bumps. I am excited to try these! The concept makes me feel like they will get down and cleanse better.

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Natural Glow Lotion in Brightening Rose

This glow lotion can be mixed into foundation, or used directly on the face as a glowing moisturizer. The lotion gives a slight glow to my hand, and the “rose” tint is so slight that I think it is OK to mix this product into foundation without messing up the shade.

e.l.f. Hydrating Water Essence

After doing much research on the Hydrating Water Essence for my e.l.f. haul 14, I have come to a conclusion. This product should be used as a toner water by applying it to the face before any other skincare. I plan on dispensing it right into my fingers to avoid wasting the product by using cotton rounds.

e.l.f. Mattifying Mask

The Mattifying Mask is a clay mask that is supposed to help your skin not be so oily and/or shiny. It can be applied to problem areas or the entire face up to one to three times per week. The mask itself is a thick white cream. It should be left on for 10-15 minutes. I struggle with oil in my T-zone, making this mask a product that I am curious about.

e.l.f. Massaging Facial Cleanser

I ended up getting this massaging facial cleanser in my e.l.f. haul 14 around the same time that my Foreo Luna Fofo arrived. They are basically the same concept. As with the Foreo, e.l.f.’s version is an anti-microbial silicone facial cleanser that uses vibrations and silicone scrubbers to deeply cleanse your skin.

e.l.f. Detoxifying Bubble Mask

I have seen this mask in action in videos, and it looks like so much fun! After you apply it to your face it reacts with the air and bubbles up. Once the bubbles dissipate, it is time to remove. You are to cleanse your face with warm water after removal. The bubbles are supposed to clear your complexion by detoxifying the skin.

e.l.f. Lemon-Infused Mask

This lemon-infused mask is supposed to brighten your skin. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes, then massage the excess serum into the skin.

e.l.f. Aloe-Infused Soothing Mask

The final mask in my e.l.f. haul 14 is aloe-infused to soothe and calm your skin. Same directions as the brightening mask- leave on for 10-15 minutes, then massage the excess serum into the skin.

Tools and Accessories

e.l.f. Large Brush Holder

When e.l.f. says “large” brush holder, they are not kidding! It barely fits in frame, but let me tell you, it holds so many brushes! It eliminated two brush holders on my vanity, and still has a tad bit more room to play with. It features a matte white plastic that is supposed to be easy to clean.

e.l.f. x Iris Beilin Pouch

I do not travel, so I really do not need any makeup bags. This one is so cheap I figured what the heck. It is huge and holds almost all of the makeup in this post. It can also function as a purse or evening clutch, considering it’s fun pink hue.

e.l.f. Rose Gold Makeup Brush Case

This makeup brush case is yet another inexpensive steal. It is roomy to hold plenty of brushes in a variety of sizes. It is also good for pencils/pens, lipliners, eyeliners, and more.

e.l.f. Beautifully Precise Brushes

Micro Contouring Brush

Talk about a truly unique contouring brush! The small rectangle is perfect for getting into your cheekbones and carving them out properly. E.l.f. also states that you can use it to contour your nose.

Smudge Brush

The smudge brush in my e.l.f. haul 14 is perfect for smudging out eyeliner, creating smoky looks, or applying eyeshadow under the lower lash line.

Blending Eye Brush

This brush can be used to blend out the edges of your eyeshadow, and possibly as a fluffy crease brush.

e.l.f. Silicone Smudger

Silicone brushes are great because they clean easily and can really move cream or gel products around. I can see myself using this smudger to smoke out gel or pencil eyeliner.

e.l.f. 11 Piece Brush Set

This brush set is such a steal I cannot not pass it up. I pretty much have all of the brushes in this collection already, as they are available in e.l.f.’s regular line. The only difference with this set is that each brush features a silver handle and they come inside of a gray, zippered carrying case. In my makeup brush collection I take you up-close and personal with this brush set.

e.l.f. 11 Piece Brush Set

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Brushes

The brushes that I have from the Beautifully Bare line have incredibly short handles. They are the size of travel brushes, but I think they are intended for daily use.

Liquid Highlighter Brush

I suppose that you use a liquid highlighter brush to blend cream and liquid highlighters onto the high points of your face. Since I enjoy a blending sponge for this purpose, I am slightly leary of using a brush. On the same token, you do not have to use a brush for it’s intended purpose.

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Liquid Highlighter Brush

Eye Shading Brush

To me, the shape of the eye shading brush suggests that it should be used to pack eyeshadow onto the eyelid.

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Eye Shading Brush

Eye Blending Brush

The final item in my e.l.f. haul 14 is a blending brush with a lot of flex. I think that it will softly diffuse the edges of a light eyeshadow look, but may not work well for hard to blend eyeshadows. I would probably not use it for crease application due to the size.

e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Eye Blending Brush
e.l.f. Beautifully Bare Eye Blending Brush

We have reached the end of this e.l.f. haul 14. I enjoy being able to discuss, review, swatch, and present a variety of items from e.l.f. to you. I am always ready to try out new brushes and skincare, and I definitely have some fun makeup in this mix. My favorite items are the Hydrating Water Essence, brush holder, brushes, and the metallic liquid lipsticks. However, I really am dying to try everything. Do you own any of these items? Which do you dislike, and why? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
