We are officially into springtime and I am ready to kick it off with a Play! by Sephora April 2018 review. The theme of this box is Insta Beauty, with “Insta” short for Instagram. This box is supposed to be dedicated to assisting you with getting selfie ready. I would imagine we should be expecting products that blur and prevent flashback. There is only one way to find out- time to cut the seal and reveal the treasures within.

It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Pressed Poreless Finish Airbrush Pressed Powder

The first product in this Play! by Sephora April 2018 review is a translucent pressed powder. I always hear good things about the “Bye Bye” line from It Cosmetics, so I am excited to try this product! This pressed powder claims to reduce the look of pores by providing an airbrushed finish. The powder also claims to have anti-aging properties. It can be used to set your foundation, or even worn alone. The directions state to swirl your brush in the product, then buff it onto the skin in circular motions. I am somewhat hesitant to buff setting powder on top of my foundation for the fear of taking away coverage. I tend to use a patting motion with my brush. The powder feels very soft.

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Rescue Mask

This facial rescue mask can be used up to three times per week to restore your skin’s natural glow and to hydrate dry skin. The directions state to apply a nickel-sized amount onto clean, dry skin and leave it on for five minutes. You can then wash it off with warm water. The product itself really reminds of cookies and cream. The mask is a thick white cream with brown flecks. I hate the signature scent of all of the Fresh products, and this one is no different. The best way I can describe it is something natural, or from the earth.

Peter Thomas Roth Skin to Die For No-Filter Mattifying Primer & Complexion Perfector

I know the name of this product is long, but to make a long story short, it is a primer. It claims to blur pores and to reduce the look of fine lines all while being lightweight. You are to apply it to the face after moisturizer. The product itself is a neutral, apricot color, and the consistency is rather on the thin side.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Perfector in #6

Next in my Play! by Sephora April 2018 review is a BB cream and foundation hybrid. This is the first time that Sephora has done a poor job of shade matching me. I know that you should not swatch foundation on your hand, but this product is too dark either way. Foundation lightening pigments will be my best friend here. This product contains SPF and claims to blur imperfections while moisturizing the skin. It is supposed to have sheer to medium coverage. The smell honestly reminds me of Nair, but not quite as strong.   I do find it curious that this product has SPF when the theme of this box is being selfie ready. SPF tends to give products flashback, which make you look bad in photos!

Urban Decay Hi-Fi Ultra Cushion Lipgloss in SPL

As you know, I hate lipgloss due to the feel and horrible staying power. However, I love Urban Decay and I am still pumped to try this new product from them. After all, the shade of pink is pretty. The Hi-Fi line claims to be super shiny while making lips look plump and keeping them moisturized. They can be worn alone or over lip color. I think this particular shade would look nice over a lip color. The formula is not supposed to be sticky, but it does feel sticky as I drag the applicator over my skin. It has a vanilla-mint scent.

Miu Miu Leau Rosee

The bonus product in this Play! by Sephora April 2018 review is a fragrance sample from Miu Miu. It is a floral musk, with notes of black currant and lilly.

For the most part I will say that this box fits with the theme well, considering how many times that I am saying that a product is “blurring” or “perfecting.” Keeping in mind the lipgloss, the wrong shade of foundation, and yet another primer, I am not really disappointed by the lineup. I think the products are of high quality and worth trying. Will you be trying any of these products? What do you think of my Play! by Sephora April 2018 review? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
