What I Got for Christmas 2017 Part 2 – Skincare, Haircare, & Makeup

I am back with part two of what I got for Christmas 2017. This year I got a pretty good assortment of hair, makeup, skincare, and nail goodies, which made splitting the series into two parts simple. This post is packed with items I am dying to try, as well as some daily staples. Again, a post of this nature is not intended to "show off" in any way. If you are offended by posts such as this one, then this post may not be for you. Let's get into the items that I will be enjoying all year long!

What I got for Christmas 2017 part two makeup

Skincare

Udderly Smooth Hand Cream

I am starting my what I got for Christmas 2017 part two with some skin and body care. I have been using this hand cream nightly for years and I think it does a pretty good job. I like to use hand cream before bed so that my hands get moisturized while I sleep.

Finishing Touch Flawless

I am just going to be honest here and say that I have unwanted facial hair. I know that a lot of ladies do, so I do not feel afraid to admit it. I saw this product reviewed online and thought it would work well and painlessly. I can confirm that it removes all of my unwanted hair in seconds and I cannot feel a thing. The best part is that I only have to use it about once a week and the hair does not grow back thicker or darker. I really like the packaging and how it looks like a fancy lipstick. The white and gold is highly classy.

Soap & Glory Pink Big

I think this set is a really good value for Soap & Glory. Not only does it contain some full-sized products, but also some generous smaller sizes. I was also impressed that they included a loofah and headband.

The Righteous Butter

The Righteous Butter is a body butter or cream designed for very dry skin. The cream itself is lightweight and white, and is scented with Soap & Glory's signature scent. The package is about half the size of a full-sized The Righteous Butter, but I still think it is generous and works very well. I highly recommend this as a daily body cream.

Heel Genius Foot Cream

I think that Heel Genius is nothing short of amazing. After one use it completely cured my dry winter heels. After just a few more uses my extremely dry skin that I get every winter on my toes was gone! Normally I have to use all sorts of foot gadgets to grind the dry skin off. I cannot believe that a foot cream worked this well. The full size is a tall tube that retails for $15, but it is worth every penny. You apply this cream to your feet nightly and then put on cotton socks so that your feet can soak everything up while you sleep. The only concerning thing about this foot cream is that it contains ingredients that make your skin more sensitive to the sun. You should always use sunscreen on your feet while using this product. Personally, I will only use this in the fall and winter.

Hand Food

Hand Food is a hand cream that you can apply as often as needed. Right now I am using it as my nightly hand cream. My hands are not in bad shape, so I am not noticing anything different while using this cream. I would imagine based upon how good the foot cream is that if my hands were really rough that this cream would turn them right around. This cream also has Soap & Glory's signature scent.

The Scrub of Your Life

This is a full-sized product! It is a body scrub that you use in the shower in the same way that you use a shower gel. It has tiny exfoliating pink-colored beads in a clear gel that exfoliate and moisturize the body. It is not rough at all and has the signature Soap & Glory scent.

Clean on Me

This is another full-sized product. I will say it is difficult to pump and does not dispense much product. I would rather that it came in a squeeze tube. Clean on Me is a moisturizing shower gel that you apply in the shower and lather up. It claims to have a built-in lotion. It is ivory colored and yet again has the signature scent.

Haircare

Ouai

Rose Hair and Body Oil

The next two products you probably remember me getting in past Play! by Sephora boxes. Well, I really liked them and wanted the full-sized bottles. The Rose Hair and Body Oil is the only product that I have ever tried in my life that fully calms down my naturally frizzy hair and makes it look like "normal" hair. Believe me, I have tried lots of products to tame my frizz. I stand behind this product 100%, I just wish it was not $30 per bottle.

Wave Spray

The Ouai Wave Spray is the only hair waving spray that I have ever used that gives my hair wave and curl without making my hair dry and crispy. Most wave sprays are like seasalt sprays, which add dry texture. All that dryness makes my hair a tangled puff ball. I like that Wave Spray gives me the look that I want, but my hair stays soft, touchable, and wavy. I find that it works best with damp hair. I first spray my hair generously with water, then with the wave spray, and then I scrunch my hair with my fingers. I will add more water and/or spray in certain areas as desired. It also has a nice perfume scent.

Suave Sleek Anti-frizz Cream

I have been using this anti-frizz cream for years as part of my haircare routine to tame my frizz. I have to be honest and say that I am unsure how much this product really does for me, but it is to the point that it is just a part of my routine that I am afraid to take out. I currently apply it to my damp hair while it is air drying.

The Sleep Styler

I like testing out new hair gadgets, and I was really intrigued by the Sleep Styler, but not so much by the price tag. I am all about heatless hairstyles because heat can be damaging. I really hate sleeping on rollers, even the soft kind meant for sleeping. For me, it is still difficult to get a good night's sleep. I am excited to try these rollers because they are made with a marshmallow soft memory foam. Also, the way that you wrap the hair around the rollers and secure the hair is supposed to not cause you to have weird creases or kinks in your curls. I have definitely experienced those with other curlers. I have high hopes for this product.

e.l.f. Daily Brush Cleaner

I fly though daily brush cleaner. It is a product that you spray onto your brushes daily to remove product and color and to sanitize. You then wipe your brushes onto a clean cloth. It is great for in-between deep cleanings, but should not be used as a replacement for thoroughly cleaning your brushes. I have never had the issue of product/color from the day before lingering on my brushes and messing up my makeup look.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponges

The Miracle Complexion Sponge is the official sponge that I use daily to apply my foundation. I think that it does a great job and is a steal from the drugstore. I throw mine away every three months, so I like to have backups on hand.

wet n wild

photofocus Matte Finish Setting Spray in Matte Appeal

This is one of wet n wild's newer products. I will be writing a post where I review and swatch all of their new 2018 products, but Santa got a few for me so I am giving you all a sneak peek. wet n wild already has a basic setting spray that works pretty good, so of course I am intrigued to try the matte version.

coloricon Color Correctors

I have an obsession with color correctors for whatever reason, so I am pumped to try these. I was really impressed by the swatches. Each concealer was ultra creamy and not streaky, with plenty of color payoff. The doefoot applicator is kinda flat, making it easy to use. The correctors are true to color. The real test is going to be applying them to the face and seeing how they blend out, and if they actually correct anything.

Soap & Glory Flatter Box

I do not have any Soap & Glory makeup in my collection, and I think this box is a great way to try some out. Right off the bat I am not impressed by the junky brushes they provided. They could have left those out.

Glow All Out Luminizing Face Powder

The box describes this powder in a confusing way. They make it sound like it could be a highlighter, blush, or face powder. While the powder itself is super smooth, it provides no color payoff and hardly any shimmer. I think it will work best as a face powder, and there is no chance that it will make you look like a sparkle ball.

Lid Stuff Eyeshadow in Cream Soda, Copper, and Choccy

I was hoping for a little bit more pigment with the eyeshadows, but they did not swatch terrible. Granted, these are neutral shades. I think they will make for a pretty, natural eye when used together.

Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Plums Up

Everyone knows that I really detest lipgloss because of the feel and poor staying power. I could have done without it in this set. This lipgloss claims to plump your lips. In my experience, plumping glosses are usually painful and I do not enjoy them, which scares me to try this product. I can say it did not make the skin on my arms feel tingly.

Supercat Liquid Black Eyeliner Pen

I would say that Supercat is a basic felt tip eyeliner pen, which is the kind of eyeliner I like. It made a nice crisp line that was super black. I will definitely use it up.

Thick & Fast High Definition Collagen Coat Mascara

I would say that this mascara has a basic wand. I would imagine based on the name that it is supposed to give you thick lashes. Only application will tell.

Urban Decay

Vice Special Effects Sampler

I went with this sample because I have not tried any of the special effects toppers before. This is a unique concept. You basically apply the toppers over other lip colors to create new colors and glittery effects.

O.N.S. Afterglow Highlighter Palette

I have the original Afterglow palette and I think it is pretty decent. The Afterglow highlighters are in the middle of being a blinding highlight and a subtle/natural highlight. I am excited to add more shades to my collection. I also think the packaging is sweet.

Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette

I am all about collecting Urban Decay eyeshadow. I know a lot of people complained about the packaging of this palette, saying that it is too heavy, bulky, and difficult to open for daily use. Honestly, it does not bother me and is really easy to get the hang of. The shadows are super silky and ultra pigmented. You can totally pack a punch with a dry brush, or wet your brush for even more intensity. I like how half of the palette has natural shades, and the other half contains fun shades.

Kiss Create Your Own Nail Look Kit

The last item in my what I got for Christmas part two is a nail kit. I really like Kiss nail polishes and I think that they included a fine color range. You can press the foil sheets onto tacky nails so that the designs transfer onto your nails. Overall I think this kit will be fun and easy to use, providing many manicures.
