The first Play! box of 2018 has arrived. The theme of my Play! by Sephora January 2018 review is “Happy You Year.” Get ready to get dedicated to taking care of yourself so that you can look and feel your best. If that does not scream new year, then I am not sure what does. I have high hopes for the first box of the year, as well as good feelings all around. I say that we jump right into the review and unboxing.

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Mask

The first item in my Play! by Sephora January 2018 review is a deep conditioning hair mask. Normally I get upset seeing a one-time-use foil packet in a Play! box, but we are not getting a perfume sample, so I think that a foil packet is fine. You are to use this hair mask after shampooing, in place of your regular conditioner. Next, leave it in for five to 10 minutes, then rinse. This mask is supposed to be rich and nourishing by moisturizing the hair and by adding protection.

Olehenriksen Hygge HydraClay Detox Mask

Next, we have a clay mask that claims to draw out impurities while replenishing skin’s moisture. The directions state to apply a thick layer of the mask to the face and leave it on for 10 minutes, then rinse. It can be used two to three times per week. This mask is a thick white cream with an odd scent that is almost fruity and reminiscent of grapes.

Clinique Pep-start Eye Cream

The Clinique pep-start eye cream is a hydrating and brightening under-eye cream. It is to be used in small amounts in the under-eye area, applied in a circular motion in the morning or as needed throughout the day. It is a sheer white cream with no scent.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer

I would normally complain about getting another primer in a Play! box, but this primer is a beauty guru favorite and one that I am stoked to try. This primer is called “Primerizer” for a reason- because it combines both a primer and moisturizer in one so that you can save a step in your makeup routine. It claims to both deeply hydrate and prep the skin for makeup. This product is translucent white, thick, and has no scent.

Glamglow Supercleanse Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser

Supercleanse is a facial cleanser that claims to clear pores and remove excess oil and makeup. You are to squeeze this product into your hands, add water, and rub to create a foamy lather that you can massage all over your face both morning and night. This is essentially a charcoal facial cleanser and has the typical charcoal gray color.

Lancome Cils Booster XL Super-enhancing Mascara Base

I personally find mascara primers to be an unnecessary extra step in your makeup routine. However, I will use this product just to use it up. It claims to condition your lashes while prepping them for smooth mascara application. It also claims to add drama to your lashes. You are to apply it before your mascara, but you should apply your mascara while the primer is still wet.

This concludes my Play! by Sephora January 2018 review. My final thoughts are that I am pleased by the products that I have. It is nice not getting a perfume sample in every box because that gives me a chance to catch up with others hanging around. The products do fit the “Happy You Year” theme because they are, for the most part, about taking care of your hair and skin, and ultimately yourself. What do you think of the first Play! box of 2018? Leave your thoughts in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
