I have to say that I am feeling a bit pumped about my Play! by Sephora October 2017 review because of the theme, which is “Complexion Companions.” I bet we are going to get the chance to try out some awesome foundations, concealers, and more. The only thing I dread is more primers. I have plenty of primer samples hanging around from past boxes because it really takes a while to use up a deluxe sample!

I think this bag is super cute. I love how Sephora is giving a shout-out to ladies of all complexions.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Skin Booster

The first product in the Play! by Sephora October 2017 review is… a primer! Sephora just loves their primers. The Ultra HD Skin Booster is specifically formulated for use with Make Up For Ever’s HD foundation, which is also included in this box. This is a serum primer in a dropper bottle. You are to apply a light layer of this to your entire face. You can also mix a few drops into another primer or foundation of choice. This primer claims to be skin perfecting with plumping and smoothing properties. It is also supposed to hydrate the skin for flawless makeup application.

Laura Mercier Translucent Powder

This sample is a total score! Beauty influences adore Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder to the moon and back, and I am beyond excited to try this out. This sample makes the box for me this month. This is a loose, translucent setting powder that is supposed to give you a soft-focus finish, while helping your makeup last all day. Influencers always seem to come back to this powder after trying others.

Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation in R230

I also think this foundation sample is another score! Beauty influencers tend to say great things about this foundation. Sephora is shade matching me fairly well. If anything, it might be a hair too dark. I do think the lighter shades in the range are way too pink or yellow for me. Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation has a 40-shade range, which is wonderful for women of all complexions, and fitting for the box’s theme. This foundation has a lightweight formula that provides long-wearing coverage. The directions state that you should tap the product across the skin to build up the coverage, and then blend to get a smooth finish. You should start with two pumps applied to a blending sponge or brush. I find the formula to be a bit runny.

Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Moonlight

I am also blown away by this sample, which is another fan-favorite! Custom Enhancer Drops can be applied right to your face in the areas you like to highlight, or you can mix a few drops into your foundation to get a dewy glow. The shade Moonlight is a light rose gold hue. The product comes in a dropper bottle and you should shake it well before use. Check out the intense swatch that literally looks like liquid metal. Another score!

Becca First Light Filter Face Primer

Who could have seen this coming- another primer. I have to say, I really like the purple packaging that has a duo chrome shift to it. First Light Filter Face Primer is a violet colored primer with shimmer in it. It is supposed to moisturize the skin while providing a subtle glow and an instant refresh. To make a long story short, it is another shimmery, dewy primer that makes you look awake. Apparently you can use this primer as a highlighter as well, but I do not think the shimmer is powerful enough.

Chanel Gabrielle

The final product in the Play! by Sephora October 2017 review is perfume sample. I am glad to see a sprayer on this perfume. Gabrielle Chanel is a floral fragrance with hints of jasmine, ylang-ylang- orange blossom, and Tuberose.

My overall thoughts on my Play! by Sephora October 2017 review is that I am more than thrilled! I really like how each of these products work together, from primer, to foundation, to setting powder, to highlighter and foundation mix-ins. Not only do all of these products play well together, but they fit the “Complexion Companions” theme well. My favorites are the foundation, setting powder, and highlighting drops. I am also impressed with the foundation color match. This box is really a step up for Sephora. What do you think about this box? Will you try any of these products? Please let me know in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
