About a year ago, wet n wild released two brand new highlighters as limited edition products in their “Into the Wildflowers” limited edition collection. These wet n wild megaglo highlighting powders are called “Crown of My Canopy” and “Precious Petals.” As you may remember, these highlighters absolutely blew up in the makeup world. They are so awesome that they immediately sold out, leaving many customers in a rage. Everyone wanted wet n wild to move them into their product lineup as permanent products. wet n wild eventually produced more and released them into the limited edition “Autumn Lush” collection . Finally, wet n wild is making permanent highlighting powders. As of the original writing of this post, there are six highlighters.

I want to dedicate an entire post to these highlighters for many reasons. First, I think that they are hands down the best highlighters at the drugstore, and at $5 you really cannot go wrong. They probably even kick butt against some high-end highlighters. Next, the formula is very soft and buttery, making application a dream. I also enjoy the sleek packaging and the flower design impressed into the powder. Finally, these highlighters are so glam. I prefer bright, in your face highlights, as opposed to natural highlights.

As if I have not yet convinced you to purchase these highlighters, I want to move into reviews and swatches of each one in the collection. If you stick around until the end, I have a special comparison for you.

Precious Petals

Out of the two original wet n wild megaglo highlighting powders, “Precious Petals” is my favorite. That is because it is lighter than “Crown of my Canopy,” and not as gold. It is almost a mixture of a slightly gold highlight and one that is more pearly white.

Crown of my Canopy

“Crown of my Canopy” is a very gold highlight, and better for people that have a slightly darker complexion than myself. That does not stop me from using it, however.

Botanic Dream

“Botanic Dream” is a light pink highlighter. For me, there is no getting past the pink. I think it is probably meant for some daring people, and maybe certain skin tones. I will use it, but I cannot see myself using it as much as other natural colors.

Golden Flower Crown

“Crown of my Canopy” was the gold highlight in town, until “Golden Flower Crown” came along and blew it out of the water. They are very different golds, which is good. “Crown of my Canopy” is a darker shade of gold.

Blossom Glow

I have to say that “Blossom Glow” is my favorite new shade out of the bunch. It is not white, but more of a pearly, off-white color that has some light gold and pink in it. I really tend to gravitate toward lighter, whiter highlights. I just know that when I put it on my cheek I am going to be like “girrrrlll.”

Royal Calyx

To end the wet n wild megaglo highlighting powders we have Royal Calyx, which is a cool-toned purple color. I have the same feelings about this color as I do for the pink shade. There is probably a time and place for this one, but it will not be a go-to for me.

Comparisons

When seeing the shades “Royal Calyx” and “Botanic Dream” I instantly think of the limited edition shades “Lilac to Reality” and “The Sweetest Bling” from the Queen of My Heart collection.  I cannot be the only one, right?! I want to do a side-by-side comparison of the highlighters for you to see if wet n wild is trying to pull a fast one on us. First I am angling the highlighters to have them shine in the light in the pan. Next I am doing side-by-side swatches.

Both “Royal Calyx” and “Lilac to Reality” look the same in the pan in the light. In my opinion, they even swatch the same. I think in the picture that “Royal Calyx” looks darker than “Lilac to Reality,” but in real life I cannot see a difference. There is no reason to buy “Royal Calyx” if you own “Lilac to Reality”. I guess we only got three new shades, right?

I really cannot see a difference between “Botanic Dream” and “The Sweetest Bling” just by holding them in the light. I find it quite funny that their names rhyme. Both in the picture and in real life “Botanic Dream” swatches slightly darker than “The Sweetest Bling.” I cannot bring myself to say that “Botanic Dream” is an absolute dupe for “The Sweetest Bling,” but they are so similar that I do not deem it necessary to own both shades.

My final thoughts on the comparison is that I fully believe that wet n wild is bringing the limited edition shades into their regular line and just changing the names and are taking away the heart in the center. If you really enjoy the limited edition shades and are sad that they are limited edition, I say be happy and use them up because replenishments do exist!

When people review highlighters they tend to mention whether or not they emphasize texture on the skin where applied. I do not feel as though I have any texture where I apply my highlighters, so that is not a problem for me. It is possible that these will emphasize texture for you if you have an issue with that. Makeup works differently for everyone. What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa. I also do not think that these look like a colored stripe on my face, which is another common highlighter problem.

Are you a fan of the wet n wild megaglo highlighting powders? Are my reviews, swatches, and comparisons helpful? Which shades are your favorite? I would love to have a chat with you down in the comments section. Finally, if you want me to update this post to show the other highlighters released after the fact, please let me know. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine!
