It is hard to believe that I am already coming at you with my Play! by Sephora September 2017 review. As we creep closer to Fall I am sure this box will start presenting us with some products for keeping your hair, skin, and lips hydrated. I have to say that the past few boxes were impressive to me. Let’s hope for the best as I open this one.

I am digging the silk bag. My only silly critique here is that the bag should be red to match the red, black, and white theme of the informational insert.

I have to stop right here and make some comments. First of all, there is no perfume sample in this month’s box! That makes me wonder if Sephora is changing the boxes. I know that some people get bent out of shape about the perfume because you can walk into Sephora anytime and get as many samples as your heart desires, for free. I also notice that we have a foil packet sample, which really does not qualify as “deluxe,” pretty much taking the place of the bonus perfume. Most foil packets are one time use size. Finally, we even have a repeat product in this box.

IGK Hot Girls Shampoo and Conditioner

The first item in the Play! by Sephora September 2017 review is a shampoo and conditioner foil packet sample. This duo claims to be great for those with damaged hair due to heat and/or coloring by providing deep hydration to revive dry, overworked hair. Interestingly enough, you are only supposed to apply a dime sized amount of the shampoo. That does not sound like enough shampoo for me, and this really is a one time use foil packet. The conditioner does not state how much to use. I will probably use this set up in one use.

Algenist Power Recharging Night Pressed Serum

Algenist’s Night Pressed Serum claims to be the first ever “pressed serum.” Serums tend to be a liquid product, but this one is more like a lightweight cream. The scent is very odd, in fact, it almost smells like cookies to me. This is basically a product for aging skin. It claims to smooth and visibly refine dull, uneven skin. The directions state to apply it to the face and neck at night.

Urban Decay Vice Liquid Lipstick in Amulet

The Vice Liquid Lipstick shade “Amulet” is absolutely stunning and is best described as a cross between brick red and rose. It claims to be waterproof, long lasting, comfortable, and have intense pigmentation with a satin matte finish. The application directions say to line your lips, apply one coat of product, and add more until you reach your desired level of pigmentation. I can say that the swatch is so creamy and extremely pigmented in one swipe. It dries down fully matte in minutes. I would call it matte, not satin matte. There is some glitter in it. The applicator is a bent, or angled, doefoot. I am providing a picture of the swatch dried down because I did not let it dry before taking the doefoot picture.

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

So, I have some thoughts about this product. We already received this cream in a past box. On one hand, I really like this product because it is lightweight, it leaves my skin feeling hydrated to the touch all day, and it has a pleasant fresh and clean smell. On the other hand, in place of this repeat I want to try something new. Also, I take pride in panning samples and in trying to use stuff up when I can. I find it slightly annoying that I already panned this and I have to do it again. Deluxe samples really do take time to use up. Anyway, The True Cream Aqua Bomb is a gel-cream moisturizer that you can apply to your face and neck daily.

Sephora Contour Eye Pencil 12 hr Wear Waterproof in Black Lace

This is another so-so sample for me. Contour Eye Pencil is a basic black eyeliner pencil. It reminds me very much of the Make Up For Ever Aqua XL pencil we got a few months ago. I really do not see a difference, and surely do not need another pencil. The swatches glides onto my arm effortlessly, and without tugging. You will be able to notice in the picture that the eyeliner is not a fully opaque black on one swipe. You need to build it up for the true color payoff.

Benefit Gimme Brow in Deep

The last product in the Play! by Sephora September 2017 review is a beauty guru favorite that I am very excited about. It looks like they sent me the right shade. Gimme Brow is a water-resistant, volumizing fiber gel. I really like the tiny, cone-shaped wand. It is smaller than any other brow product in my collection.

I really do not know how I feel about my Play! by Sephora September 2017 review. My favorite products are the Urban Decay liquid lipstick and Benefit’s Gimme Brow. I am highly disappointed by the repeat product and foil sample. As for the perfume, I can live without it. It might be nice to get one every once in a while to keep me smelling expensive. What are your thoughts on this box? Do you like the changes? Feel free to start a discussion in the comments. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
