After the really good July 2017 box, I am pumped for my Play! by Sephora August 2017 review. I would imagine that this box should still be summery. I do not notice any kind of weight to the bag or smells. The Innovators theme is rather interesting because they are trying to teach you about ingredients that are popular in your beauty products. I will read the booklet and see what I learn. I think it is time to open the box and see what awaits us.

Hourglass Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick in Shell

I am ultra excited for the first item in this Play! by Sephora August 2017 review. It is the Hourglass Vanish Foundation Stick that beauty gurus have been raving about. The shade Shell will be a good match for my skin tone. You do not get much product in this sample (I have it rolled up all the way in the picture below), but I think I can get a few uses out of it, depending on the coverage. This foundation claims to have a concentrated formula that provides high pigmentation. It is supposed to cover like a concealer, be smooth like a liquid, and weightless like a powder. The directions state to dot the foundation all over your face and blend it out with a brush, preferably the brush they created for this foundation. It swatched very smooth and creamy, and blended effortlessly with my finger. It sets quickly into a finish that feels like powder.

Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist

This Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist for the hair claims to provide instant, long-lasting root-to-tip volume, texture, flexible hold, strength, and softness for touchable hair. The directions state to spray two to five sprays onto towel-dried hair before blowdrying. I think you get a fair amount in this sample. It has a perfumy scent.

Clinique HIM Dual-Ended High Impact Mascara & Primer Duo

The High Impact Mascara is a basic mascara with a standard wand. It claims to provide long-lasting, full, soft, and lustrous lashes. The directions state to apply multiple, generous coats of the primer, followed by multiple coats of mascara. That sounds like a lot to me. I am more of a one coat girl for primer and mascara and I think that works for me.

beautyblender micro.mini

I am very excited to pull out the micro mini beauty blenders out of the bag! I love getting to try beautyblender products without the price tag! Right now I am using the mini Real Techniques miracle complexion sponges for the same purpose of this micro mini, but now I can use the real thing! Be sure to use this sponge wet and to clean and air dry it after every use. It is perfect for reaching small areas of the face, such as the crevasses around your nose. They claim it works well for highlighting, contouring, and concealing. I plan on using mine for blending out under-eye concealer and for setting it with powder. I have even heard of people using this sponge to apply eyeshadow!

Dolce & Gabanna Light Blue

The final product in my Play! by Sephora August 2017 review is and always will be a perfume sample. Light Blue is a fragrance that is perfect for summer. The scent channels the Mediterranean sea by being floral, fruity, fresh, and citrusy. The notes include cedar, apple, bluebell, jasmine, citron wood, and more. I can definitely smell the citrus in there. Once again I am annoyed that this sample does not have a sprayer.

This concludes my Play! by Sephora August 2017 review. My final thoughts are that this box is pretty darn awesome and just about as great as the July 2017 box that I called the best Play! box so far. It looks like Sephora is stepping it up a bit and sending out products that we truly want to try. The only things that are slightly displeasing me this month are the lack of a sprayer on the perfume sample and getting a mascara sample. I feel like I get plenty of mascara samples in boxes, which leads to me having too many mascaras lying around going bad. I would much rather sample some other product. Until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
