My Play! by Sephora May 2017 review is dedicated to fairly new, but sure to be lasting hit products. I really like when the box focuses on newer items because that gives you a taste of the innovative products out right now that you may want to purchase. I do appreciate receiving tried and true products all the same. Either way I’m sure this box is going to be a lot of fun to open, so let’s dive right in.
I am really surprised by this month’s bag! It is refreshing to have a new type. The bag is more like a traditional plastic makeup bag. While it is clear and reveals the surprise products, I like it all the same.
Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask
The first product in my Play! by Sephora May 2017 review is Rahua’s Omega 9 Hair Mask. It claims to be a salon-quality conditioning treatment that contains omega oil. It is for reviving dull and damaged hair by adding shine and vibrancy. The directions state to apply a generous amount to your hair after shampooing, and to comb it through. You then leave it on for 10-15 minutes and rinse. This product is a white cream that is the consistency of conditioner. It has a really different smell. It smells like a chlorine-treated swimming pool mixed with something zesty and medicinal.
Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil
The next product is Tatcha’s Pure One Step Cleansing Oil. It doubles as a makeup remover and a cleanser that washes away dirt and impurities. It is not supposed to strip your skin of its moisture. You apply a dime-sized amount to your dry fingers, and then massage it onto your dry face. Finally, rinse with warm water. It is a clear, scentless oil.
Nudestix Magnetic Matte Lip Color in Greystone
I really love matte lips and nude hues, so Nudestick Magnetic Matte Lip Color is calling my name. This product claims to function as a matte lip stain, lip color, and liner all in one. It also claims to be long-wearing and intensely pigmented. After swatching this product I definitely agree that it is fully matte and intensely pigmented. It applies so smooth and the color builds up quickly. After it sets I cannot get the swatch to smear for anything. The color is gorgeous! I think of it as a rich, mauvy brown. I think it is more of a Fall color, which makes it a curious choice for the May box, but I love it all the same. This is a lip color that you need to sharpen yourself.
Belif Hungarian Water Essence
Belif’s Hungarian Water Essence is a lightweight treatment for deep, lasting moisture. It can be included in your morning and/or evening skincare routines. You are to apply it after toner but before moisturizer. It is for your face and neck. It feels very lightweight as it claims, and it has no sticky residue after swatching on my arm. My skin absorbs it fast. It is a clear, scentless liquid.
Trestique Highlight + Perfect Multipurpose Stick in Maldives Luminescent
Trestique’s Highlight Stick in Maldives Luminescent provides a medium glow, perfect for those who like a subtle highlight. The instructional paper in the box says to apply this to the usual areas of your face before foundation application, and then to blend it with your finger. I think those are odd instructions, and I do not see why you cannot apply it like a normal highlighter after your foundation application. I plan on using it normally. The swatch is incredibly creamy, so much so that it feels oily. It is easy to blend with my finger, and I think it will set well after necessary blending. It is a champagne color.
Tocca Stella
The final product in my Play! by Sephora May 201 review is, as always, a fragrance sample. I really like Tocca’s Stella and I think it is perfect for Spring. The main scent is blood orange, and you can really smell it. It also has white freesia and sandalwood. It honestly smells so delicious.
My overall thoughts on this Play! by Sephora May 2017 review is that it is better than some of the previous boxes. I really like the bag, lip color, and fragrance. Do you subscribe to this box?
