Today I am showcasing for you all a block graphic design project. The purpose is to learn how to use a grid to place objects in a way that actively uses white space and moves the viewer’s eye around the layout. None of the layouts are supposed to represent anything, rather, everything is abstract. This project is a lot of work, so I definitely want to share it with you all. It should be really fun to just gaze at each layout and imagine what it might be.
The project really emphasizes how important a grid is when it comes to laying out artwork of any kind. Grids help you lay out your objects in a way that convey the story and the feelings of your piece. If you do not use grids yourself, you should give them a try! They are great for getting your piece organized, too. There are different types of grids that are used in graphic design depending on what you are trying to achieve, and you can read more about them from Try Design Lab.
I am thinking back to many months ago to a post here that details the graphic design work I am doing for this blog. While this blog is primarily fashion and beauty, the post is getting more traffic than expected. Unfortunately, due to my hectic life, I just do not have the free time for graphic art. However, I am currently taking a graphic design class. This class will enable me to be able to share my art more often. Consider posts such as this one to be a much needed vacation for your eyes, as I am sure that if you are a reader here then you probably spend much time scoping out makeup and fashion.
