What I Got for Christmas 2015 Part 1: The Makeup

Thursday, December 31, 2015
Hey everyone! I hope that you all had a lovely holiday. I was fortunate to be gifted many awesome items that I wanted to share with you all, especially if you are in the market for some of these things (or just love perusing pictures)! I have made this into a multi-part series instead of a giant, exhaustive blog post. Today I will show you all of the makeup I received, with swatches and reviews.

The Color Workshop All Eyes On Me Sultry Matte Neutrals Essential Eyeshadow Palette

I was pleasantly surprised by the pigmentation when swatching this palette. Pigmentation can be kind of hit-or-miss with The Color Workshop, but I think they put some effort into this palette. It is also in a tin case, which reminds me more of a Naked palette.

The Color Workshop Radiance 7 Piece Face Collection

I have used the makeup from this set, and I love it! The blush is really pigmented, and the bronzer works well for my skin. I was surprised by how soft the brushes are. I think I can actually keep them around. The sponge is very soft as well. I will actually give it a go when it's time for a fresh sponge.

Wet n Wild Fergie Center Stage Brush Collection

Can I just say wow! These brushes are so soft and fluffy! I have been using the powder brush for my face powder and the blush brush for contouring my cheekbones. It is so soft and just the right size so that the bronzer does not look harsh, but actually looks blended out. I just wish this set didn't have a grooming tool, because I don't use them (who does).

Brushes in order:
The Louder Powder
A Crush on Blush
In Your Shadow (2)
The Perfect Groom

The Color Workshop Dazzling Lashes

I love trying out all kinds of mascara. I just hope these don't disappoint! They came with a clear lash gel, which is a product I have never used before but am curious to try.

The products included:
Photo Focus palette in Milano Collections
Turn Up The Volume mascara
On The Edge long wearing eye pencils in Midnight Girl and Space Cake
Eyeshadow brush

I have another one of these palettes and I was disappointed by the pigmentation, but this one is much better. I can see myself actually using this one. The mascara is nothing amazing, but I do like it and will continue to use it. I like how it does not make my lashes stiff and dry. What I am most impressed with is the eye pencils! I thought they were going to be your typical gift set eye pencils, but they are the best I have ever used! They are super pigmented and creamy, but they stay on all day and don't budge. They don't even wear off my water line. I sincerely hope Wet n Wild will continue to manufacture them.

Profusion Contour Palette

This palette reminds me of their Face palette, but without the extra junk I never use. I absolutely love the face palette, so I just had to have this. I love this one too and will use it a ton. Great pigmentation!

E.l.f.  All About Nude Set

This is the Natural palette, and I really like it. Some of the shades are pigmented well, while others are not the best. I do not like the eyelid primer, so I will pass that along to the friend. I have been using the eyeshadow brush every day for years! The eyeliner brush also does a good job.

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Palette

My number one gift! I love Gwen Stefani and Urban Decay! Let me just say the packaging is awesome, and so Gwen. Of course, the shadows are Urban Decay, so they are great.

Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani Lipstick Samples

Urban Decay put 4 samples of Gwen's upcoming lipsticks in the palette box! I want them all! The packaging complements the palette well. My favorite shade is Firebird.

Urban Decay Revolution High-Color Lipgloss in Scandal Sample

Urban Decay was kind enough to include this lipgloss sample with my gift. I actually hate lipgloss, but I will give it a try just because it's Urban Decay.

Profusion Make me Blush

All of the blushes are soft and smooth, and well pigmented. I like all of the colors, and will use them a lot. Even the brush is soft!

Milani Constellation Cream Eyeliner in Celestial and Galaxy

These eyeliners are so pretty! I already had Evening Star, so I wanted the other 2. The only bad thing is that they eyeliners "travel." What I mean is that when I apply them to my upper lash line, they eventually end up smeared in my crease, and worn off my lash line. They just never set. I really don't like that. Maybe they are better for use below the bottom lash line.

Isla Sirena by DuWop Seashell Cheek Dual in Rubellite

I first saw these on Pinterest, and had to have them just because they are seashells! I got rogue for my birthday, and rubellite for Christmas. The shell contains a cream blush and highlight. I'm not sure if I would necessarily call them cream-to-powder. The compact is actually inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean.

E.l.f. Studio Daily Brush Cleaner

I know I have praised this brush cleaner before, but I will do it again. Seriously, if you are not using this product, or are using something more expensive, then you are severely missing out! This stuff cleans off your brushes well enough that no color is left behind. Of course, you still want to be sanitary and clean your brushes weekly. I cannot say enough about this cleaner and how it extends the life of my brushes.

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge

I've heard a lot of great things about this sponge, and I was in need of a new one, so I had to try this. My first thought when using it for the first time was that this is how makeup is meant to be. It is so soft and leaves my foundation more natural looking. Before this sponge I was using the Essential Tools sponge, which I think is really great, but not as great as this one. But I still would like to see a video where someone compares the Essential Tools sponge to the Beauty Blender.

That's all for the makeup! More posts in this series are on their way. Be sure to share with me in the comments what you got for Christmas, as well as which of these products were your favorite. Or, just tell me all about your Christmas. Thanks for reading, and until next time, continue to let your true beauty shine.
